Celebrating National Poetry Month: A Collection of Emotions
Written on
Introduction to Poetry Month
Dear Reader,
As May approaches, we find ourselves at the tail end of National Poetry Month. The bright side? Poems have been flourishing everywhere, thanks to the nurturing environment provided by Scribe and the passionate expressions of our talented writers!
For those who haven't yet submitted their favorite poem for inclusion in the collection I'm preparing, fear not—there's still time! Be sure to incorporate the National Poetry Month theme into your draft. The collection will be unveiled in the newsletter on May 4, allowing us to collectively honor this celebration of poetry and the incredible poets among us! Thank you for your beautiful submissions!
Recent Unusual Events
In recent days, peculiar occurrences have taken place, starting with the sight of panicked horses racing through the streets of London—an event that inspired a poem by Daniela Dragas. Following that, the wings of the iconic Moulin Rouge in Paris mysteriously fell off. Perhaps you've encountered your own unexpected events in your area! Regardless, I hope for the safety of the horses, while I have less concern for the metallic wings of the cabaret.
Highlighting This Week’s Contributions
Among this week's standout pieces, Somsubhra Banerjee shared a moving tribute to his cherished grandparents in "A Drawer Full of Forever," which evokes a sense of nostalgia and fond memories.
Connie Song's love poem, "Invent a World," captivates with beautiful imagery, masterfully intertwining themes of love with nature, creating a seamless reading experience that leaves us dreaming.
Louise Foerster's exploration of memory and time, presented as a poignant poem, has undoubtedly touched many hearts, including mine! "I Want To Be With You" resonates deeply.
Ema Dumitru's poem, "Tiny Theatre of Being Quiet," draws readers in from the very start. It explores friendship and the struggle for inner peace, culminating in a breathtaking moment where she likens her body to an instrument lacking harmony.
Bradley J Nordell delivers an eloquent ode to poetry in "My Advice To Future Writers." Despite the somber reflections on our challenging world, he reveals the profound power of writing through enchanting imagery of an albatross soaring high in the sky.
As always, I invite you to our literary salon to enjoy this week's other gems! Before I sign off, I've penned an article about a new virus that appears to be making its way to our lands. Your insightful feedback has been invaluable!
Thank you for your continued support, and keep the words flowing! ☀️
