We all encounter periods of emotional downturns, which can escalate into more serious mental health issues. In my experience, writing proved to be an accessible and effective form of therapy. After my diagnosis of late-onset bipolar disorder during my time at the Priory Hospital in London, I was encouraged by a yoga instructor to express my thoughts through writing. Following her suggestion, I discovered that not only did writing serve as a therapeutic outlet, but the act itself was also beneficial for my mental state.
Over time, I embraced writing as a hobby, realizing its positive impact on my mental health. Here are six compelling reasons why writing is advantageous:
