Revamping My Approach to Niche Websites: A Fresh Strategy

Chapter 1: Rethinking Niche Websites
I've recently decided to revisit the concept of niche websites, albeit with a fresh perspective. Initially, I was quite disillusioned with the idea, but a new strategy has piqued my interest.
Four months ago, I made a vow to avoid building any more niche websites. The process of writing about topics that didn’t resonate with me was draining, and the uncertainty brought on by Google's frequent updates left me frustrated. However, a new concept caught my eye, igniting my interest once again.
My tendency to chase after new ideas led me to explore this strategy further, which I intend to document as I create a niche website for myself.
A niche website is essentially a blog focused on a specific subject. Recently, I’ve been diving into self-development literature, so I've decided to launch a blog centered around that theme. It’s a subject that I’m eager to engage with over time.
It’s worth noting that I prefer editing content rather than creating it from scratch. To streamline the writing process, I plan to leverage AI tools, allowing me to produce content more efficiently while ensuring it remains clear and accurate through editing.
To host my website, I utilized a yearly plan I had with Namecheap, aiming for a straightforward setup.
As I worked on the website's design, I was reminded of the challenges that come with using WordPress—like the frustrating experience of fitting a logo in the menu bar. After several attempts, I switched from the Astra theme to Kadence, which resolved the issues I was facing.
Section 1.1: A Two-Pronged Strategy
Instead of solely depending on search engine traffic, I’m opting for a new approach. One aspect of this is utilizing Google Discover, a personalized content recommendation service akin to a news feed that curates articles based on user interests, previous searches, and location.
If I can feature my blog posts on Google Discover, I could potentially see significant traffic increases. Crafting engaging headlines similar to those I’ve seen on Medium is essential for this. Although Google Discover is unfamiliar territory for me, I plan to research it further, acknowledging that it may prove unreliable.
This leads to the second component of my strategy: Pinterest. Many website owners successfully drive traffic through Pinterest. I only need a free Canva account to create visually appealing pins for each blog entry I publish.
Like most social media platforms, initial results may be slow, but I anticipate growth over time. Additionally, I will optimize my blog posts for search engines, though my primary focus remains on Google Discover and Pinterest.
Will this strategy yield results? I can’t say for certain, which is why I’m willing to experiment. There are numerous factors that could hinder success, such as content quality, topic relevance, algorithm changes, and monetization methods. Nonetheless, I’m eager to test this approach.
Section 1.2: Monetization Plans
Now, onto the aspect many are curious about: monetization. I plan to utilize ads for revenue generation. Initially, I’ll explore Adsense once my website has at least 30 posts and some traffic.
However, my ultimate goal is to transition to Mediavine ads, which offer superior RPM compared to Adsense. The catch is that they require 50,000 monthly views to qualify, a milestone that might take time to reach.
Chapter 2: Progress Update
The first video discusses the journey of starting a niche website from scratch or considering a pivot. It offers insights into exploring new strategies effectively.
I’ve just embarked on this project a few days ago. So far, I’ve set up the WordPress site and experimented with AI content tools, primarily using seowriting.ai for its speed and quality.
I purchased a subscription and wrote five initial blog posts. Concurrently, I’ve established my Pinterest account, complete with a logo and a brief bio. Soon, I’ll begin designing pins using Canva.
My objective is to produce at least two blog posts and pins daily to assess whether this can evolve into a lucrative side income. While it feels more like an experiment right now, if things progress positively, I’ll continue to provide updates.
The second video reveals how a niche website significantly transformed someone's life, showcasing the potential of this side hustle.
