Understanding Writing Fatigue
Do you often find yourself feeling an overwhelming sense of fatigue just as you sit down to write? You’re certainly not alone in this struggle! This issue has resonated with me enough to delve deeper into it. Perhaps you share this experience as well, and together we can unpack this frustrating phenomenon.
It seems that whenever a brilliant idea strikes or inspiration ignites within me, I suddenly feel completely drained. I’m not talking about mild tiredness; I mean a profound exhaustion that makes it hard to think clearly or maintain focus. My thoughts seem to wander far away from where they need to be, making it nearly impossible for the words to flow.
It’s perplexing how I can spend hours scrolling through my phone (yes, I admit that’s embarrassing!), or engage in hobbies like drawing or painting without feeling fatigued. For the most part, low energy isn’t a concern—except when I attempt to write.
My awareness of this fatigue first emerged during one of the most challenging yet transformative periods of my life. It was a time of isolation that I felt was orchestrated by a higher power, where I encountered this overwhelming exhaustion for the first time. Each attempt to read my Bible or write my thoughts felt like a Herculean task; I could have easily dozed off while sitting, standing, or even attempting to write while doing jumping jacks (imagine that!).
At first, I wondered if something was seriously wrong with me. The fatigue seemed too specific to be mere coincidence, and I doubted there was any medical explanation for this sudden tiredness.
A blog post I stumbled upon changed my perspective. It suggested that the enemy despises when we draw closer to God, when we engage in activities that glorify Him, and when we begin to fulfill our calling and discover our true selves in Christ.
So, why do we feel paralyzing exhaustion right when it’s time to write? It’s because writing is your calling. The adversary recognizes your passion and potential for success if only you persist.
Conquering the Challenge
How can we tackle this seemingly minor yet significant issue? The answer is straightforward: we write anyway. We pray for divine assistance to remove distractions that hinder our writing potential. We shake off the fatigue, splash some water on our faces, and prepare ourselves as if entering a battle.
If you find yourself grappling with this fatigue, remember that you’re not alone. The enemy knows your worth and recognizes your immense potential. Always keep in mind: just keep writing.
