My Journey: From Childhood to Medium and Beyond
Written on
Chapter 1: Early Life and Interests
Hello! I'm Aaron, a 20-year-old who published my debut story on Medium at the end of last year. It's time to share a more comprehensive “About Me” that reflects my life experiences, especially from recent years.
Born in Germany in 2003, I grew up with an older sister and later a younger one, in a nurturing environment provided by my parents. We were comfortable, neither poor nor extraordinarily wealthy.
Carefree Childhood:
Throughout my life, sports and hobbies have been constants, starting with children's gymnastics, moving to JiuJitsu, scouting, handball, strength training, soccer, and now content creation.
As a child, I was lively, curious, and confident. I vividly remember looking forward to leaving kindergarten for elementary school at just six years old. I made many friends and excelled academically, consistently achieving excellent grades. This success continued into high school, where I was the class clown but still kept my grades up and maintained a broad social circle.
Adolescence and Social Anxiety:
However, everything shifted around the age of 12 when puberty struck. Unlike many peers, I remained smaller and more slender, which made me a target for comments from friends, classmates, and even teachers—none of whom intended harm. These remarks deeply affected my self-esteem, transforming my extroverted nature into introversion. I withdrew from social activities and preferred solitary pursuits like video games over spending time with friends, especially in unfamiliar settings.
Today, I am still somewhat reserved but have regained a significant portion of my self-confidence. I have a close-knit group of friends I trust completely. The journey back to this point is something I will explore in a future story.
Academic Journey:
Throughout my school years, my performance became average, leading up to graduation. I often didn't put much effort into my studies and found little joy in them. In hindsight, I realize that with more engagement, I could have achieved higher grades, but I felt they weren't crucial for my future.
Chapter 2: Transition into Adulthood
After graduation, I always envisioned working in my father's family business. I opted to study industrial engineering, aligning my education with the family enterprise, and managed to maintain my studies alongside part-time work.
Unfortunately, shortly after the pandemic, my father’s 75-year-old company shut down, forcing me to find part-time work in a large food company to support myself. My parents can no longer provide financial support, which I accept as part of growing up.
Our financial situation has changed considerably. Although we were never rich, we enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle, living in a nice house and taking annual vacations. Now, while we reside in the same house, its future remains uncertain.
The desire to be self-employed, akin to my father, has always been my aspiration. Although I could pursue a well-paying job in the industry after graduation, I yearn for the independence that self-employment offers.
Exploring New Avenues:
Recognizing the need for alternative income sources, I began exploring various options like selling used goods, reselling books, and creating digital products. My exploration led me to social media, where I discovered opportunities to monetize theme pages.
I established an Instagram account focused on "art," a passion of mine since school, with the intent to build a brand and generate revenue. Though I didn’t sell anything directly, I grew my following to over 90,000 in just nine months. Unfortunately, due to an error on my part, that account was hacked, and I lost access to it. I plan to share more about this experience in detail on Medium.
Now, I have a new Instagram channel (@aarons.dailyy), where I regularly share insights into my life, similar to my writing here. I’d appreciate your support as I start anew.
My Writing Journey:
At the end of last year, with my first Instagram page thriving, I discovered Medium through YouTube and published my first article, tackling the question, "What is art?". Initially drawn by the potential for income, I have since developed a genuine passion for writing about topics that resonate with me.
I still have much to share—stories about my hobbies, school experiences, friends, family, and my life overall, which I cannot detail here without losing your interest.
In conclusion, I find myself at a pivotal moment, setting solid goals but uncertain about where this path will lead. That uncertainty adds excitement to my journey. I hope you found this glimpse into my life relatable.
