Discovering the Hidden Path to Greater Success at NAU Gym

Chapter 1: The Unexpected Revelation
During a visit to the Northern Arizona University Gym on April 26, 2022, I stumbled upon an astonishing insight about achieving greater success.
I discovered a remarkable truth at the NAU Fitness Center in Flagstaff, AZ—one I hadn't been searching for; it simply presented itself to me. My son resides in Flagstaff with his family, and my wife and I were visiting for a few days. While working out at the NAU Fitness Center, I experienced a pivotal moment that would shape my understanding of success.
To illustrate this insight, let me recount an experience with a vintage 1947 truck that parallels my discovery. A few months ago, I bought a 75-year-old truck from a barn in Heber, Utah, a true "barn find." The seller described it as merely a vehicle for running errands, claiming he had never driven it on a freeway during his ownership. He even affixed a "slow-moving vehicle" sign to the back, as he believed it was only suitable for local roads.
Initially, I adhered to his limiting beliefs, hesitant to take it on busier roads. However, after some time, I decided to challenge those limits. I drove the truck on a main road at 50 miles per hour, and it performed exceptionally well. Eventually, I took it on a 70-mile round trip, cruising comfortably at an average speed of 55 mph. To my surprise, when I finally drove it on the freeway at speeds exceeding 70 mph, it handled beautifully.
Reflecting on my initial fears, I realized that the constraints were more mental than mechanical.

I noticed I was the oldest person in the gym that day at 60, while most others were between 18 and 24. Surprisingly, I found myself lifting weights heavier than anyone else in the facility, not in a competitive manner, but simply because I was focused on my own workout. Observing a fellow gym-goer who watched me lift, I noticed he gradually increased his weights to match mine.
This raised an intriguing question: Was it merely coincidence, or was there an influence in the environment that encouraged him to push his limits?
As I reflected on this experience, I recalled similar observations from various gyms I've frequented. It's evident that our surroundings have a profound impact on our performance. At NAU, it became apparent that students are motivated by each other's lifting capabilities. Likewise, my initial doubts about my truck’s potential stemmed from the previous owner's perceptions. In hindsight, I realized that the truck, equipped with a powerful Chevy 350 engine, was capable of far more than I had imagined.
Have you placed a metaphorical "slow-moving vehicle" sign on yourself? Have others done so? Consider the potential that lies within you. You possess the capability for greatness beyond your current understanding. Remember, you are a creation of God!

In Conclusion
What more could you achieve? What are the limits of your potential? I genuinely believe you can exceed your current achievements and aspirations. Your ENVIRONMENT plays a critical role. My friend, Dr. Benjamin Hardy, in his book Willpower Doesn't Work, emphasizes the importance of reshaping our surroundings to foster positive change. I've been fortunate to be in the company of brilliant entrepreneurs in Joe Polish's Genius Network Group, which has inspired my growth. The supportive environment at my church encourages me to elevate my spiritual and personal journey.
As an artist, I strive to foster unity and love through my work, helping individuals realize their fullest potential. Surrounding yourself with those who inspire and uplift you is vital—remove any "slow-moving vehicle" signs from your life.
