Exploring the Connection Between Starseeds and Neurodiversity

Written on

In this article, I delve into the relationship between starseeds and neurodiversity, particularly focusing on my own experiences with ADHD and Autism.

Recently, I discovered that I am autistic, which came as quite a shock.

As a child, the world often felt confusing. I struggled to grasp why there were so many unspoken rules governing social interactions—how to ask for things, what was deemed polite or impolite.

When I began to learn about starseeds, I thought it might clarify my experiences, especially why I found it challenging to fit into societal norms. Everything around me felt overwhelming, as if the world was moving at a pace I couldn’t keep up with.

However, this revelation did not answer all my questions. I encountered other starseeds who shared similar feelings—an awareness that the world could be overwhelming, yet many seemed to navigate through life without succumbing to total burnout. While they still experienced exhaustion and exhibited creative traits often associated with ADHD, they appeared to possess a unique resilience that allowed them to participate in daily life.

On the other hand, I often felt overwhelmed.

As of 2024, I am undergoing an assessment for Autism.

The term "neurodivergent" came into my vocabulary in 2021, and I received an informal “diagnosis” of ADHD in 2023. I place the word "diagnosed" in quotes because society has framed our ways of functioning as "divergent" from the norm. This doesn’t imply that we deviate from what is truly ‘normal’—rather, we exist outside of a narrative that has been defined as 'the norm.'

I am aware of my differences. Even among healers and fellow starseeds, my experiences feel distinct. Often, the world feels too intense, with even ordinary sounds, like birds chirping or people chatting nearby, becoming overwhelming. Like many starseeds, I can sense the emotions of others, sometimes feeling multiple emotions simultaneously, even from a distance.

My sensory perception is heightened, more so than that of a typical Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). I struggle to focus in environments with multiple sounds, as I tend to absorb all the stimuli at once. My experiences with taste, texture, light, sound, and touch are very particular.

In essence, I feel like an outsider. (Hello to my fellow starseeds!)

As I engage with other awakened starseeds, I notice a significant connection between being a starseed and identifying as neurodivergent. While this may not be true for everyone, I see enough of a correlation to suggest that this reality resonates deeply.

But why is this the case?

Why, in a world where we already feel like outsiders, must we also bear the label of being "outside" the accepted norms of society? Why does the way we perceive and experience the world often fall under the category of “disability” in systems like the DSM-5?

It seems rather absurd, doesn’t it?

Perception is Everything

Being labeled as neurodivergent places us firmly outside the mainstream community.

But didn't we already feel that way?

To identify as a starseed means to possess a unique outlook on life. We often feel alienated on a planet where we might not typically incarnate. We are here for a purpose—to elevate the collective consciousness of the Earth, not to remain passive within the existing status quo. As pioneers, we are often misunderstood; while the term "starseed" is gradually becoming more recognized, using it in public might still evoke blank stares.

If being labeled as "neurodivergent" helps some starseeds find their community, then perhaps there is value in that identification.

After all, what better community exists than one formed by those who don’t quite fit the mold?

Find Your People

When I learned that I might have lived for over 30 years without a diagnosis of autism, I felt an immense sense of relief. While this realization comes with its challenges—social, sensory, emotional, and professional—the most profound feeling was liberation.

For as long as I can remember, I have struggled to find my place socially. I excel at pretending to fit in. My hesitance in responding often manifests as aloofness, but I quickly learned how to avoid behaviors that might lead to rejection. In school, I aimed to be “perfect,” believing that diligent work would help me succeed as a human. Unfortunately, this often drew unwanted attention, leading to bullying until I eventually transferred schools. Through these experiences, I became adept at blending in.

Did I understand the humor in social interactions? Not really. Could I excel in sports, achieve high grades, and wear trendy clothes despite discomfort? Absolutely. I secured my social standing.

Now that I’m older, I am learning to set boundaries (you can find guidance on that here) and embrace my neurodivergent identity. I no longer feel compelled to fit into the neurotypical mold that I used to so meticulously maintain. Being a starseed or neurodivergent means bravely seeking out those who genuinely understand us.

Seek out those who see you for who you truly are, and you may just discover your tribe.

I've mentioned that the primary message for 2024 is to "let go of the lone wolf mentality." This can feel daunting, especially when navigating the conventional world!

Being both neurodivergent and a starseed means perceiving the world differently. This altered perspective is essential for helping to elevate the collective consciousness. Without the ability to see beyond the surface, we could not forge connections necessary for envisioning a brighter future.

If you’ve felt isolated for years, or worse, if you’ve internalized the belief that no one will ever understand you, take heart. You may just be looking in the wrong places. Consider attending events in queer-friendly spaces, neurodivergent meet-ups, or online communities with shared interests. Often, those who challenge the mainstream narrative are eager to welcome others who don’t fit neatly into boxes.

Your community is out there. I believe in your ability to find it.

Skills in Disguise

As starseeds, we are incredibly sensitive and attuned to our surroundings, a trait common among those labeled as neurodivergent. Being neurodivergent often means that we are more aware of details that others might overlook: sounds, light variations, patterns, emotions, and various ways of being. Many who identify as starseeds are more spiritually aware, while those who are simply neurodivergent may not yet have activated this aspect.

Ultimately, both starseeds and neurodivergent individuals notice nuances that the average person might miss. While some old souls may be connected to the rhythms of the Earth without being either starseeds or neurodivergent, they are typically grounded. The main challenge we face is overwhelm. We often channel energy from higher realms, making it easy to become ungrounded and susceptible to intense emotional reactions.

If you could shed your 3D human experience and reconnect with your galactic essence, consider this: whatever challenges you face in this physical realm may have once been perceived as strengths on your home planet.

For example, rigid thinking associated with ASD could indicate a natural aptitude for planning or navigation in your original environment. If you are hypersensitive to stimuli, you may have held roles where acute perception was vital, such as in protective or strategic capacities.

While we may struggle with the sounds of modern life, in a different context, these attributes would be valued.

It’s easy to adopt a victim mentality when categorized with disabilities that make conformity challenging. I have faced these struggles too; the world can be demanding. However, we wouldn’t be here if we weren’t equipped to navigate these complexities. If you start viewing your sensory differences as lost galactic skills, how might that alter your interactions with the world? Consider adopting supportive measures, such as tinted glasses, noise-cancelling devices, or sensory-friendly clothing.

Shift your perspective on your ‘neurodivergent traits’ and see them as ‘galactic skills.’ This simple change in mindset may significantly impact how you fulfill your needs.

Your Unique Differences Could Hold Clues to Your Origin

Every neurodivergent individual and starseed possesses unique abilities and sensitivities. Reflect on your distinct differences—they may offer insights into your origins as a starseed.

Do you find it challenging to connect with others emotionally? You may have a soul that originates from Mars or possess Reptilian traits.

Do you love animals, light colors, and gentle environments but feel uneasy in darkness? You might have Lyran or Avian roots.

Those who are exceptionally sensitive to others’ feelings and tend to prioritize relationships may have Pleiadian ancestry, as Pleiadians are renowned for their focus on connection.

There are countless potential starseed lineages, and it’s possible to belong to more than one. Whether you identify with a single lineage or a blend depends on your soul’s journey and past incarnations. Begin by identifying your unique traits and inclinations—what attracts or repels you? What differentiates you within the neurodivergent or starseed communities? Use this information to explore your origins further.
