My paternal grandfather was separated from his family at a young age and had to fend for himself starting at just ten years old. He faced severe hardships, nearly starving, before eventually transforming his life through education and hard work, reminiscent of a Horatio Alger story.

Growing up, my family also experienced financial constraints until my late father found success as a children’s book author. In hindsight, I realize we lived quite hand-to-mouth, leading me to understand early on that I had to find ways to earn for myself instead of relying on my parents for every desire.

The intense emotions associated with a scarcity mindset can create stress, often resulting in feelings of anxiety, fear, and resentment. These negative feelings and beliefs can adversely affect one's health. Those entrenched in scarcity focus on what is lacking, making it challenging to invest in anything deemed non-essential, ultimately leading to missed opportunities.

In contrast, an abundant mindset reveals that opportunities are always present if one remains receptive. This perspective can alleviate the pressure that often accompanies a scarcity mentality, which convinces us there’s only one chance to succeed.
